Privacy policy
MDView collects nothing. This page explains what that means in practice.
Last updated 31 August 2026.
What is collected
Nothing. MDView collects no personal data, no analytics, no telemetry and no crash reports. There is no account to create, nothing to sign into, and no identifier of any kind is generated or stored.
Network connections
MDView makes none. It does not contact any server, including ours. Diagrams and mathematical notation are rendered on your Mac rather than fetched from anywhere. Remote images, video, audio and tracking attributes in a document are not loaded, so opening an untrusted document does not reveal that you opened it. There is no sync and no cloud storage.
You may still meet one macOS prompt that looks like it contradicts this. Opening the print panel makes the system go looking for Bonjour printers on your local network, and the prompt names MDView because MDView is the app that opened the panel. That search belongs to macOS, not to us: MDView neither performs it nor uses its result, and your document plays no part in it.
If you inspect the app you will find it declares a network client entitlement, which looks odd on a program that makes no requests. It is there because the system web view refuses to load even local content without it. It is not used to reach the network.
Your documents
Documents are read from and written to your Mac only. Nothing is uploaded anywhere. MDView is sandboxed by macOS: it can open only the files you explicitly choose, plus any folder you explicitly grant it access to when a document needs local images. That grant covers that folder and nothing else.
